Let’s talk about breaking the sound barrier. Breaking the
sound barrier doesn’t mean to practice shouting loud or clearing
your throat loud.
You should not speak in a manner
that your speech becomes invisible in seconds or vaporizes like
the split second effervescence of a chemical solution. You should
speak the words you mean that come straight from your heart. That
makes you evolve to become the very special person that you are.
To be able to do this, you need to have strong beliefs, values and
above all, tremendous self confidence. Self confidence comes from
feeling positive about yourself and just being yourself.
The foundation of any relationship
are thoughts and words. As the thoughts form in the mind, they transform
into words and the words transform into action. Speaking clearly,
correctly and convincingly is like taking the first step in getting
past the sound barrier.
Different ways to
break through the sound barrier
How to talk only…!
Following are some of the ways
you can learn to get over your self consciousness and become a good
speaker.
Have an abiding passion in your
life
You should be able to sum up in a few lines about what it is that
really drives you. Is it the work that you do? Is it your hobby?
Or is it your personal philosophy about life? It is very important
to evolve into a person of deep conviction. You can do that only
when you are strongly convinced about the appropriateness of something
that you are pursuing in your life. Thoughts like “What are
the many experiences that you have in life that really drives you
and everything in your life?”. You must be able to define
it in a few sentences. Explore and cultivate that dimension in your
life.
Define and evolve your
own code of rights and wrongs
Things that you will do and things that you won't. Be principled.
Respect others
Respect is the foundation in any relationship. Respect can develop
only when people behave in a manner worthy of being respected. To
be able to command respect, you need to be that person who sticks
to all those old fashioned values that are fast disappearing now-a-days.
Respect is that grudging sense of admiration that comes only when
the other person sees you demonstrate certain qualities that are
universally appreciated, like honesty or compassion.
Develop an interesting
hobby
Sometimes, many of us may be doing a job that may border on the
monotonous, with little space for creative expression. It may be
at such times that if you have an interesting hobby, you can become
a more livelier person. It may be something as simple as feeding
orphaned children. It may be saving trees in one's neighbourhood
or may be taking great photographs or playing a musical instrument.
A hobby is like a secret sanctuary in your mind that you can retreat
into every now and then. A hobby can really help you to discover
and enjoy life's beautiful moments.
Just say “Hi”
and talk
For those who are not used to talking, there's nothing more intimidating
or alarming than opening their mouth. There's only one way to get
talking and that is to open one's mouth, grin brightly and say a
loud, booming "Hi!" If you are word struck after the first
"Hi!", just talk about what you know definitely interest
the other person, or you could talk about what happened to you that
morning, or may be you could talk about what you were thinking of
when you were running down the stairs. You have to learn to talk
very naturally and spontaneously. This is possible only when you
are really sharing your innermost thoughts and feelings. Well, that
doesn't mean that you have to wear your heart on your sleeve and
let every one of your feelings be transparently obvious. What it
means is to be warm and spontaneous.
Be trendy and innovative
Be willing to experiment and try out new things. It could be small
things like choosing a totally different hair style or trying out
a new bus or car route while returning home. Innovation is the flame
that can really make any relationship glow with a brand new life
at each encounter. Of course, that may be a really tough job, but
just may be once in a while, you can go out and do something really
different.
Be romantic
A little romance always goes a long way and is a vital component
of a loving relationship. Romance is all about the beautiful little
things in life that enhance the beauty of our perceptions. These
could be something as simple as exchanging cards, listening to some
music, wearing a favourite perfume, going for a walk, or even sitting
by the windowsill and watching the rain fall.
Conclusion
‘Little drops of water make the mighty ocean’
It helps to remember this saying every now and then. If one cares
about all the little things in life, they can evolve to become the
big things in life that really matter, like whether a relationship
survives to evolve in to a marriage or whether a marriage becomes
a lifetime of happiness. |
